The second week of April on Monday the weather started out on the cool side with a low of 28 and getting up to only 41 for a high with a few snow flurries flying around. I took an order of maple syrup to Straka Meats in Plain Wisconsin. This morning & afternoon I worked in the woods cutting off little weeds, trees, and poisoning the stumps.

Tuesday morning it was even colder with a low of 16 that is usually a February low on an April low. But under a bright sun it eventually climbed to a pleasant 50. I planted walnuts this morning and in the afternoon I helped Ted pull out the post from an old fence. We got done early so I took a nap and watched some TV. Ruth had an eye appointment this morning and then went on to do her shopping. She hadn’t been shopping for a couple weeks and spent over $300. Prices just keep getting higher.

Wednesday was another frosty morning with a low of 28 before getting up to 53 under a mostly sunny sky. I worked in the blackberry patch this morning doing some pruning. In the afternoon I went to Muscoda to deliver an order of books. I then picked up some tree fertilizer and got some garden seed. My onion plants came today, I got about 700 of them. Riverdale Ag was up this evening to spread fertilizer on the hay fields.

Thursday morning was not quite so cold at 35 but under a cloudy sky it didn’t warm up much getting only to 47. We were supposed to get some rain but that didn’t happen. We could use some as it is getting a bit dry. I worked in the blackberry patch again finally getting done with that job. I got the garden and fruit trees fertilized. We had one new calf this morning and we saw a few Red-Wing Blackbirds today. I was wondering when they would get back; it seems a little late.

Friday was back to being frosty in the morning with the temp down to 28, starting out with a mostly cloudy sky this morning. The sun came back this afternoon and the temp rose to a pleasant 57 degrees. I fed the cows this morning and then planted some walnuts until noon. After a short nap I got my line washing rig all set up on the gator that I use to wash out the sap lines that stay in the woods. Ted & Tayden were down to put in a new fence.

Saturday was a beautiful and warm sunny day after starting out at just 26 and later getting up to 65. I worked at cleaning out more of the sap lines. My goo neighbor came over and tilled the garden today. Ruth bottled syrup today as well. We got 2 new calves today; 1 of them red and the other black.

Sunday was a cloudy day but it started out a lot warmer at 47 and was getting to 68 after chores and checking the cows. We had one new red calf. I worked in the garden and put in 140 hills of potatoes, and a 30ft row of radish.

So ended another busy week. Two more stores will stock the book.
